Hi guys,

Dont want to upset peeps or cause unrest, but im a bit of a purest when it comes to my cars.(Ferrais should be red etc...) so why fit an xe or fiat twin in a ford ??? Dont get me wrong great choice of tuneable engines but isnt oldskoolford about fords !!! Discuss. :?

XE is my choice but im biased

i spent a long time deciding which engine to put into my Escort, Never considered Zetecs to be fair, not a fan of them knew there were better options. Came down to 3 choices, Pinto, N/A Cossie or XE, XE won on bang for buck..just!

The conversion parts do cost a fair whack but an XE is a bit cheaper to tune. I had a National Hot Rod spec XE (with extra Headwork) built by WPE and it goes like a train even before final mapping.

My Dad has an Anglia with a WPE N/A cossie and it is ridiculously fast, and my XE is very close to it but the N/A Cossie costs alot more to build due to the cossie tax more labour intensive build etc.

i know there are purists out there that would never put a Vauxhall lump in there ford, My very good friend DAZZA is one of them but even he sees the appeal of mine now its built.

end of the day Smokem was right its all bout bang for buck...hence a future project being built by a friend will be and anglia with a CA18DET engine from a 200sx very cheap way to get 200+bhp.

people will always put various engines in there cars and the scene is better for it too :ykt:

Standard 2.0 zetec 130bhp

Standard 2.0 Xe 150bhp

Your starting 20bhp down to start with.

200bhp pinto is more costly and its near its limit without a bottomless wallet

200bhp Xe is easily achieved on a budget and its got potential for so much more without being over stressed

P.S the true colour for a Ferrari is yellow if you care to check Ferari history

Uh uh it's all about personal choice...

Ford all day long for me thanks but not a Zetec so dependant on car x-flow (and its derivatives), Pinto or N/A cossie. There are some cracking cars on here with each of the above and also being some of the quickest on the scene...

I think for me it depends on the car you want to build, certain engines are better suited to certain conditions. Like a south london look car looks perfect with a xflow or pinto, if your building a rally escort say, xe is a very good choice. All depends on the use of the vehicle.
