Mk1-Paul Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 so ive been told by a couple of people that depending on the age of your car you dont need to have a bs number shown on the number plate. Just wondering if this is true and if anyone could find the legal bit saying so cheers in advance
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 I will have a look in the m.o.t manual tomorrow for you but I think they scrapped that bit of the regulations....I'm a tester and have never failed a car for not having it nor has anyone else I work with. As long as the plate is in the correct font and doesn't have like a shadow of say Ford badges in the background and is spaced correctly it will be fine!
Admin Vista Posted October 9, 2011 Admin Report Posted October 9, 2011 Vehicles registered before 1/1/73 are allowed to display the old style black and silver plates but I don't know if that exempts them from carrying the BS mark. I suspect on a classic vehicle, as long as your font, size and spacing is ok then you'll be alright. The attached leaflet gives some guidance but doesn't say whether the BS mark is exempted from older vehicles V796.pdf

Its all because mr polish policeman couldnt charge me or find anything else wrong with my car so started being an anal bast**d So just wonderd if there was an exemption for older style cars
