BaileyMex Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 Hi all, Just fitted a new electric shower to replace the power shower that packed up However the water pressure is not strong enough, Need to do either; Connect it to the Mains cold water supply or Fit an electric shower pump Simple question, which would normally give better results or would they be similar? mk1estate Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 if its just a cold fill only shower and you have plumbed it into the mains feed you should be ok, if you dont have enough pressure make sure you have plumbed it into the mains supply and not from a feed from the storage tank in the loft. If you have a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard you dont have a combi boiler

Current feed is from the loft, and pressure is naff, just not sure whether to go into the mains or get a pump to pump from the loft If you have a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard you dont have a combi boiler Ahh cheers, sorry I didnt know what to call the heater unit thing in the kitchen

The power from your power shower shower is probably a spur off the ring main which will be no good.

This is the bit I didn't count on your right the existing wires for the Power Shower are on an MCB in the fuse board in the kitchen and so are other things like house alarm, plug sockets etc The house is approx 10-15 years old (modern plasterboard crap) does this mean more headaches

It cant run other other stuff aswell 45amp MCB, cable from there to a pull cord in bathroom (or switch elsewhere like in the airing cupboard) Then out of the switch to the shower 6mm twin and earth is big enough for an 8.5kw 10mm for 9.5 and above To do it properly you'll need to get an electrician to do it cos it will need a Part P certificate. Without it you could get in trouble if you sell up Sorry, i guess thats not what you wanted to hear!! Looking forward to having a gander at the mex btw when i'm on the road!!

BaileyMex Posted October 13, 2011 Author Report Posted October 13, 2011 Crawley But all sorted now, I fitted another Thermostatic Power Shower last night, done and dusted tested and used in just over an hour!!! Could kill the twat at B&Q who said that It'd be ok to swap over to an electric shower as power showers were old fashioned
