The Transplanter Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Hi fella's Just bought a MK2 Escort 2dr 1.3GL in Nevada Beige (yummy lol ), this is my first MK2 in 23 years Back in the 80's I owned virtually every MK2 model there was to be had, I even built a 3.0ltr with forest arches and 7.5 RS alloys which handled sh1t but sounded the bollox and went well in a straight line for the time I have some photo's of my old cars but will need to scan them, in the mean time this is one of them, it started life as a Popular then had a sorted xflow fitted, but I kept melting one of the powermax pistons so ended up fitting a full RS2 running gear This pic would have been around 1986 Parked next to my older brothers nearly new UR Quattro I will dig out some more old pics if theres any intrest In recent times I have been a VW specialist having a soft spot for the MK1 Caddy, I have a couple or rare ones and I also have a 2.8 VR6 Turbo VR6 turbo photoshoot Caddy Sport (only 250 produced), photo taken @ the Chelsea cruise This is one of only 2 known made GTi Engineering Caddys, the styling is pretty pants, but I still have the build sheet and everything is there bar the head unit. So now I have come full circle, plans for the MK2 are not set in stone but I have some pretty good ideas. Its a 2 owner car and the last owner bought it from Currie Motors in 1979, it was used up until 2003 and then just parked in the garage for the last 8 years Parked next to my 1974 2.3 Vauxhall Magnum Well thats me for now Cheers Al

The Transplanter Posted November 9, 2011 Author Report Posted November 9, 2011 Thanks for the welcome fella's I will start a build thread when I make a start on it in the mean time I will re-familiarize myself Welcome My mate has a caddy vr turbo aswell (goes really well) he 's a tech at Vw in Edinburgh What was the plate on the ur a fella at work has one L8r Bill What's his name? I may know him as the Caddy world is quite tight knit, although I only know of a couple of other VRT's. I built mine back in 2003, I have had it running up to 380bhp and its quite a handfull but excellent fun and jaw dropping quick im in the process of doing some resto work and a repaint on the Caddy, so the Escort wont get started until the end of Dec/jan The UR was a "Y" (83) plate, it was an early RHD, it was quite something back then! Cheers Al
