Modenamagic Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Ok peeps.. Finally putting this into my Mk2. Its a Cortina block, Unleaded Carb Head, Std green mark cam, 32/34 DMTT 4F carb and a Rotomaster T04 turbo. It has a micro dynamics EMS 3 unit. I have found a wiring diagram for ems 5, but not the 3. Can anyone advise on how all this gets wired up! This is going in here.. Currently running 2lt pinto, standard carb, lumenition ign, although have bosch set up in my cupboard. Which ever would be easier. I am starting rear disc conversion so all should be clear in the bay soon. Also me coilovers on front to get her level. Help greatly appreciatted!!!
wilky Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 i used to run one of these i'll see if i can find it or ask my mate he would of wired it in for me ,i'am near you to mate
puddy Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Or just speak to Dave Walker who makes and sells these at Emeralds. Btw, I would fit an intercooler before you go too far with it. Puddy
Fiesta Steve Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Or contact micro dynamics, they are very helpful
Modenamagic Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Cheers chaps. Am newbe to turbo's. Bit of an ebay impulse buy thanks to my pop!! He had a blow through version on his 100e in the early 80's. How would an intercooler go on this set up and could a dump valve be fitted?
Tall paul Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 From what I know mate it needs to go between the carb and turbo so that pipe that runs over the rocker cover needs an intercooler put in the middle. It looks like both the turbo housing and that plenum need to face the front to run the pipes to the intercooler and a dump valve can t-piece off of one of these pipes
Mr Sam Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 deffo use an intercooler it works like a radiator and usually mounted infront of the radiator the hot 'pressureised' air goes through the intercooler which cools it before reaching the carb my daily car (volvo 940 turbo) you would not believe the temperature difference between the hot side and cold side of the intercooler just get one ebay and look for something simple like a standard cossie one

Modenamagic Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 Thanks again for comments guys. I love the colour too. Will start looking into intercooler and emerald chap. Can I turn the turbo round on the mount for manifold to get a pipe to infront of radiator?
Vista Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Can I turn the turbo round on the mount for manifold to get a pipe to infront of radiator? No, even if it would fit that would leave the exhaust outlet in the wrong place. You can probably turn the compressor casing around though so that the outlet points towards the inner wing. You'd then need a 90 degree elbow to head up towards the front mounted inter cooler. Something like this on my Cosworth install, note the compressor outlet pointing down and towards the inner wing.
Modenamagic Posted February 10, 2012 Author Report Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks. Fingers crossed i might get time to start this weekend!!!
JC T ONE Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Or just speak to Dave Walker who makes and sells these at Emeralds. Puddy Hi Puddy, do you mean the Micro Dynamics MS3 ? mine is broken, and I would like to have it fixed. How & where do I find a Email to this guy ? Any help much appreciated Thanks . Jens Christian
JC T ONE Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 No need to mess with the position of the turbo/plenum, just buy some 90 degree elbows, so you get the pipes facing the front. That would be very easy to fix. I would be more concerned about your servo & brake system ? will there be room for the turbo ?
mk2 mike Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Or just speak to Dave Walker who makes and sells these at Emeralds. Puddy Hi Puddy, do you mean the Micro Dynamics MS3 ? mine is broken, and I would like to have it fixed. How & where do I find a Email to this guy ? Any help much appreciated Thanks . Jens Christian Dave and Karl manufacture and sell their M3D system not the micro dynamics ecu, although they may be able to help or advise you. Tell them Micky Sullivan said you might be able to help. Click on the link below my sig pic for their website and contact details.
Modenamagic Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 Servo is coming out. Going bias box and upgrading front and rears. Cheers for help guys.
Fiesta Steve Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Just contact micro dynamics direct, I had a similar thing and they sent me the wiring diagrams through the post, and offered to test all the parts etc for free as I was having trouble getting their products working.

jayson2.3pinto Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 have look at renault 5 gt turbo intercooler it would work perfect with you set up
5tox Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 if your after a super slim front mounted intercooler i used one off a turbo diesel frontera before. Paid about a tenner or so from the scrap yard otherwise theres always the option of a charge cooler like they use on the celica GT4, i dont think they are as effective as an air to air cooler though
Modenamagic Posted March 21, 2012 Author Report Posted March 21, 2012 Cheers peeps. I will have a look at both of those.
