New Fiat 500 Twin Air

Hi all,

 

My girlfriend is looking at getting one of the new Fiat 500 Twin Airs. We were particularly drawn to the MPG figures! I know these tests are done in "optimum conditions" and are unlikely "real world" figures, but has anyone got one and what do they think of it?

 

On a side note (and to bring the chat back to the blue oval badge) we were looking at the Ford KA too and possibly Fiesta. On another side note, I might be tempted by a 55 (or that era) Fiesta ST - I like the look of them as an alternative to my current daily. WHY?

I see only a few reasons you would ever buy a brand new car.

 

1) you're loaded, money is not an issue

2) For tax purposes/company car requirements

3) You've been taken in by all the marketing hype.

4) You're in love with the car, emo purchase.

 

I always here people say "... And it only costs me £30 a year to tax it!" Which is great, until they tell you it costs them 11k to buy it.

 

As soon as you drive that new car, its worth 30% less than what it was. Perhaps look at older cars similar in spec, your money will go a lot further if you do this.

Young fella at work has a 58 plate st he's selling very low miles not abused and it's a greedy little bar steward

He's priced it to sell and can't get a bite

 

So If you buy one be prepared to fill it lots and loose lots or keep it a while

I can't help you on the Fiat 500, but I did used to have a Mk2 Ka Diesel which after 30k I was getting 60mpg out of it. I would have quite happily kept it but my mileage is proper high due to the nature of my job and my local dealer said I was better trading it in due to the finance. I would even go back to a MK2 Ka, but it has to be a used one. The mpg figures in my opinion are only near the book figure after about 20k, so wouldn't consider another new one for this reason. I have heard that the petrols only get about 40mpg if you're lucky, but as I've never owned a proper 500 I have absolutely no idea on the figures
