Col-ashtonmobile Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Had this crossflow out of a mexico come in last year whilst the car undergoes a resto , So on the stand for a strip down , the sump had some very crude welding on it with a make shift dipstick , going to put a sport sump on with a proper stick , so bores and decking done , crank sorted now to polish the rods pistons machined and installed , cam now in with duplex chain gear and vernier, now for the crusty head and i mean crusty lol now this needed some work , i would normally get Dave at Baldyne or Steve at vulcan to do the heads as they are time consuming and i,m always busy with day to day repairs , but as i had a few days off over xmas thought i would crack on and do it myself , first up some porting , then the valve seats and plenty of polishing , next up is to get the valves ground in , now to measure the valve & spring heights and make some shims up, next up is to cc the chambers as our compression ratio is key to our power, made some rocker post platforms so our geometry is spot on ,as you can see on the scales so they all weigh the same ,as everything else is weighed as well , after a dummy build ,all built up and ready to fire up video of the initial fire up on the test stand ancillaries removed and ready to be wrapped and taken away for the install and rolling road tune

GJUK Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 how much does an enginer like this cost to have built for you?
Joe-ashtonmobile Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Sounds the mutts nuts Which cam/ignition did you use ? Bill Hi bill thanks it does sound great, as to the cam it has a kent 254 hotrod/race cam in, with the ignition when we run these engines up on our test bench we run them on points, as it is much easier to wire up etc, the ignition that will be on it when its fitted is a 123 electronic ignition kit. Cheers Joe

It sounds sooo nice. hi mate , thanks for the comment it does sound good , the owner should be pleased i did a similar spec crossflow last year and that one made 159 bhp , this one i,ve spent quite a bit of time doing the head to get that bit extra, plus this one has a better manifold so should be about mid 160 ,s , should go well cheers col.
