Mk1 escort - Washer bottle solutions

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So I've melted my mk1 escort bottle prior to rebuilding the car. That's long gone in the bin now.

I've got a coulpe of mk2 escort bottles in good condition which I'd like to use with the foot pump i also have on my mk1.

The car isnt standard so I dont mind putting the washer bottle anywhere, in the passenger footwell was my initial ideal. Not sure if it wil lbe too low though or might not work there/look silly?

Where have you 'moved' yours to? Any mods to suggest? I've seen under the wings as an idea but I don't really want to get the hole saw out right now!

Thanks.

i have mounted mine in the boot using the fuel pump bracket. going to run the hose but use 1 way valves every 2 metres to rensure there is always water when needed

I melted mine aswell and then bought another on ebay but that leaked :(

So I got a cheap kit car electric pump bottle and mounted it were the battery use to be in the engine bay. I used to switch on the foot pump to activate the electric pump.

mine is cracked so i have a plastic sandwich bag inside the washer bottle that is filled with water - seems to work ok until one comes up for sale at a sensible price

Strange that you show these 2 together as my Mechanical fuel pump failed today (on my Chevette) so i ended up emptying the water out of the washer bottle connecting the tube into the fuel pipe to the carb and filling it with unleaded it got me from Ali Pally back to St Albans with 1 refill on the M1 just had to keep pushing the washer switch every 30 seconds for a short blast :D I know i really need to get the MK2 done

Dont know if the washer motor will ever pump water again but it was a get me home remedy
