trevb Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Hi all, Well I've been mad enough to start another airfix 1/32 mk1 escort kit, but this time I'm going for a van.... I've not really modded a shell before so please don't expect too much : ) I'm trying to replicate my mk2 van with an xe, but being a 1/32 I doubt I'll be able get any bits online to make this any easier, but if any of you know where I can get any of the bits on the list below, it would help a lot. Wheels as per the pic of the van, but 1/32.....sierra cossie rims Mk2 flat front with small wings 1/32 redtop/xe engine Ok, the project so far......... As it is tonight. I've still got a lot of work to do, but I've started to get the shape. : ) Thanks for looking
Savvi Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Im liking that, i didnt relalise how much work went into making a van, nearly bought one the other week all built but after it went over £25 decided it was too expensive for me Well done going keep watching this.
Posse Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Trev you must love it i bet your misses loves all that filler dust
banarama Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 very good work, p38, got to be the worst pug to rub down
trevb Posted February 28, 2012 Author Report Posted February 28, 2012 Ok, did a few more bits last night, and yes i hate P38... But it was all I could find in my living room... : ) It looks like swapping the front end won't be as easy i as first thought, the mk2 seems to be wider than the mk1..... : ( and the arches are way off, need to do a bit of head scratching but I'll think of something. Thanks for all the comments, Trev
Mad Mex Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 you really must of been bored with that chest infection mate.... looks good tho should be able wo work out who this is from sig pic... though theres alot more primer on it now
trevb Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 Ok, head scratching over...... It's going to be a big arch mk2 escort van, but a fully working digital slot car, the only problem I can foresee is I don't now a scalextric set up. Here are a few new pics.....
shaun1.6ghia Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 that looks well cool trev, u wanna get it on the track witha bit of sand paper n sand them tyres down a bit, they look like 205/80's, bet u can get em down to 175/50's like the arches and the front makes it look a lil xpacked and mean.. Top work, u wanna get some milliput from a local model place, easy to work in and even better to sand look forward to seeing it go round a track
Admin Vista Posted March 6, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 6, 2012 A lot of work going into that. Aren't van models already available though? I think I prefer the look of bubble arches on a mk1 & 2 van rather than mk2 arches
trevb Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 Hey, thanks for all the nice comments.... I will have a look into the different filler, think its just getting to the stage that it needs that finer touch. Please let me know if I can buy a model van, apart from the tiny little AA van that model zone sells. Few more update pics......
Slick53 Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Nice mate looking good there hard working but the look of it

trevb Posted July 17, 2012 Author Report Posted July 17, 2012 Ok, so it's sat on a shelf for a while now, so I thought I'd have a little go at it again today, it still needs a lot more work but I had an old can of diamond white in the draw : ) Is not perfect, but it's getting there : ) thanks for all the nice comments
escortmad79 Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Please let me know if I can buy a model van, apart from the tiny little AA van that model zone sells. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corgi-diecast-Ford-escort-Van-London-Transport-not-boxed-Superb-Condition-/390602495309?pt=UK_ToysGames_DiecastVehicles_DiecastVehicles_JN&hash=item5af1b9154d#ht_22wt_1255 1/43rd scale mk1 any good?
mk2mex78 Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 thats well cool, worked out pretty well....it must be difficult getting the back end of the van correct as for model vans, they are available in 1:76 or 1:43 scale at present......
Focus-st225 Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Looks great, i have 3 of these kits. They are very good
