mossy Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I know a few on here have stumbled across barn finds with vehicles which have been there for years and nobody knows who owns them. Me and a friend have stumbled across one with 4vehicles in (2 being uber cool old fords ) the farmers whose barn they are in says they have been in there easily 15yrs or more. Obviously there are no log books with them .. He wants them out the barn and was gonna weigh them in.. How would we obtain log books for said vehicles? Any info would be great.
maddog 1 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 go to the post office and fill in form "application for a v5" and you have to pay approx £20 send it off to dvla and they check with previous recorded keeper and as long as they dont contest it log books will come back within 4-6 weeks. i have done this many times and it is really easy and by the sound of it well worth the effort. hope this helps

mossy Posted March 1, 2012 Author Report Posted March 1, 2012 Fieldy - I've not ( but I've paid someone else! ) cheers dude. Pop in if your not too busy! Cool, well shall see how this goes ... mothers gonna love another car home!
jas Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 i would take all the reg numbers and see if there still on the system first
john_3.0s Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 you just need the reg numbers and chassis numbers. suggest you apply quickly as this is one of the few areas which hasnt been clamped down on recently by the DVLA. If you dont know the reg then you will need the car inspected by a car club to verify that it is what you say it is then the DVLA use this as evidence to assign a new reg and a logbook
