J_a_t_33 Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 Hi All, Not a regular member so excuse me. My uncle has a mk2 '83 Mk2 Escort van he's owned since it was about 3yrs old. It's been sat for a few years now due to him moving abroad. Before he went he coated the underneath in oil so it's more solid than you might expect. Due to terminal illness he's had to return to UK but needs to raise some capital and the sadly Escort needs to go It had a fair bit of work done to it before it was parked up. Re-conditioned 1600 Capri GT Engine Twin webbers Suspension mods - Gas struts White pepperpots with polished lips Many of the body parts will need work or replacing but for anyone wanting a project, I gotta say I wish I had the funds to take it on. I'm not overly knowledgeable on oldskool Fords so if anyone is able to help me find out an idea of what it should be advertised for or if many people would be interested that would be massively appreciated Many thanks, Jay.
Savvi Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 Hi Welcome to the site, sorry to hear about your Uncle. Good vans seem to be making a little better money these days as they are hard to find, having said that nothing is fetching big money at present cos of the climate we are in. There's been a couple of similar projects for sale recently think people would want to see pics of under bonnet floors & sills as thats where they rust worse, having said that judging by others ive seen i'd guess around £800 ish.
Skimmer Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 I would have thought 1200 to 1500 quid would be nearer the mark as its a complete van and will defo need work though pics of other areas would give a better idea of rot etc .......good luck with selling it
5tox Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 mk2 vans aren't really my ball game but if i were after one i'd be willing to pay around the 800-1000 mark depending on a closer inspection Good luck with the sale buddy
SteveL Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 1 of those went for £450 by me recently Depends what any buyer wants to pay .Put it on ebay?
morcheen Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 you need to at least give it a good clean up and proper spec on the engine etc, then i can't see why it wont get £1500 .
J_a_t_33 Posted March 5, 2012 Author Report Posted March 5, 2012 Hi All, Many thanks for the responses guys that's awesome. Engine work: Litereally completely re-conned by an engineering firm nearby. All bearings, big ends, piston rings the lot - did less than 5k miles 1300 gearbox fitted for shorter ratios Other bits: 1600 Escort sport rear axle with gas struts New Armstrong shocks fitted on front No expense was spared back in the day and has literally done about 5k since it was parked. I will whack up more pics of inside the engine bay and other bits when I get a chance to pop down to give a better idea. Have had a few PM's so will get back to you all. If anyone wants to come and view you are welcome or discuss on 07789 263 797 Thanks again guys Jay
Skimmer Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 Without being to specific what area of the country or town is the van in
J_a_t_33 Posted March 6, 2012 Author Report Posted March 6, 2012 Based inbetween Reading and Henley on Thames
J_a_t_33 Posted March 30, 2012 Author Report Posted March 30, 2012 Hey guys, Just wanting to give this a bump to see if anymore interest or suggestions arise.
Savvi Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 Has anyone been to look at this yet ? As suggested you will need to post some pics of the areas that rust etc. Also what are you trying to do as such, ask a question or actually trying to sell it ? If your trying to sell it then you need to do a proper ad and you will have more chance of having some offers coming in. I'd like to have a look at it as your close to me, i also know someone else who may be interested in buying it.
GJUK Posted March 30, 2012 Report Posted March 30, 2012 £750-£1000 would be around what you'd get for that i recon. You might get a little more if you hold out for it. J
J_a_t_33 Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 Many thanks for the feedback guys. The van has now gone to an OSF member and hopefully we'll see a project thread soon (Hint hint)
