lee_capri Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 been offered a mk1 escort 2 door needing light restro so its in good nick on a l reg which is a 71 i belive the guy as asked for a strong 4 figures and its a 1.3L and bog standed, not knowing to much about these things is £2500 to much money for it as that is what he wants, its got no mot or tax but is really tidy and 100% complete, im not looking to do big mods on it other then a pinto shocks and wheels and brake up grand and some fresh paint, so it would cost a roungh £1500 to do they abouts, is £2500 a fair price because i was thinking it was a little rich, or would £4000 buy me some thing beter escort wise dont really want any-thing to moded has my boy is doing his lessons and i would be looking to let his use it has well so he could be on my insurance, what do you think guys
deadly456 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 If it not been messed about with alot then that is probably the best, you know what your getting. If it dont want loads of weldin then £2500 is not out of the way, long as its solid enough
lee_capri Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 it has not been messed with at all and from what i have seen it is a light restro ive got to go and have a proper look at week end, but just want to make sure in not getting tucked up like a kipper
SebringRS Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 My 1100 was £2500 when we bought it (might of just been lucky) but we took it as kinda cheap, it looked like this Was solid, just needed a new front panel and wings as they were dented and someone had bodged the front repair up and it was cracking, few little dents, but nothing major, floors were solid and so was the boot floor, interior was pretty clean too. Same as you say, could do with a few things. But i thought £2500, for a solid, unmolested, 2 door mk1 was cheap This is how it is now, and with everything ive got for it, including paint, id say i've spent about £1.5k maybe £2k, thats wings, front panel, 2 wing rails, 2 flitch panels, paint, prep material etc
Admin Vista Posted March 14, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 14, 2012 £2.5k would be too much for me, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it in today's market. Just that I wouldn't part with that for a non road legal standard mk1 needing work. Oh and L reg is 72/73 so if you're looking at it from a tax exemption point of view, it may or may not qualify
SteveL Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 for £4000 you could get one mot and taxed with a search I would say £1500 is reasonable for what you are looking at keep searching ,Send cheeky offers
Billy_smith Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 can you find another one at the same money or cheaper? in the same condition? unfortunatley theres alot of shite out there now which people think is gold. so thats how i look at things. u only get what you pay for with escorts mate
Skimmer Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 1500 sounds cheap if it is as described though before getting serious have a look at the v5 and take a big magnet .....or find me 1 for 1500 quid and ill have it
SteveL Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Spend a bit of time on the net and you will find one Way to many over priced rotterS about IMO
