Today as i was leaving after my retro ford shoot my mk2 developed a clonk from the n/s/f wheel area and the car was swerving alot under breaking. I had a look and the n/s/f anti roll bar mounting bush had come out of its bracket and slid down the roll bar a bit giving me a couple of inches front to back movement of the n/s/f wheel. it is a poly bush and the mounting bracket is still tight so how has this happened and how can i stop it happening again?

It shouldn't be able to come out, do you have the washers present that are meant to go either side of where it goes through the track control arm.

They're like large penny washers with a slight cup to them. The Anti roll bar nut bolts up against the rear most one and the forward one sits on the anti roll bar shoulder. You can just see the forward one of the pair in my photo below

Here are some Escort ones on Gartrac's website

Or do you mean where the anti roll bar itself bolts to the car rather than where it secures through the track control arm?

Yeah where it bolts to the car on the chassis rails. I may have a solution though. A jubilee clip either side!

The bushes you're using may not be appropriate, it shouldn't be possible for them to slide out at all. Even Gartrac use rubber ones with a lip at each end that prevents them moving. These are double width ones but you get the idea.
