Yeomans22 Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Hi, just insured my escort for the first time in a couple of years, so im sorting out an agreed value especially after seeing the red mex go up in flames is something that needs doing. i've said to the insurance £6500, i wanted to know if everyone thought that would be about right for my car, as its quite hard to value them. car is a 1977 2 door, was originally an 1100L original cills, arches, strut tops, has ahd new wings and a few small bits but excellent, 1600 engine, all the interior mint etc. as ive said its currently at £6500, Thanks Paul.
tim Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 after looking at the photos and knowing its for insurance value if the worse happened i would say 10k
norm1 Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 hi ,if the worse did happen ,with an agreed value do the insurance pay that agreed value ,or do the usual haggling ,
gearbox100 Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 I dont know what it is worth but just wanted to say your car looks gorgeous , i dont know if its the colour or stance but it has to be one of my favourite escorts. Well done
oxb1l Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Hi Paul I've got agreed on mine aswell for 10k which I've been advised to adjust for next yr The way it was put to me "could you go out and buy your car for the same price tomorrow ? " Yes I could buy another nice sport for 8k Then all mods ££££££££ to get it the way I built it I'd say that would be the best way to look at it L8r Bill
GJUK Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 9-11k... Often you'll find that the a higher agreed value (if only upping 'it' byt a few k) will not up the premium. Think about it. Can you buy the same car on the open market with 6.5k. I for one do not think you could in a million years. J ps. Car looks nice mate.
stuartp Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 do you need someone official to back up what you say it's worth? or do you just tell them and if they agree it's all cool? i really need to get my agreed value sorted but no idea how to go about it

State you want an agreed value of X Thousand. Go in high, over the odds. A quote say between 5 and 7 k on a classic car, doing 1000k a year will be very similar. They send you paperwork, you take ~6 photos, send them back and then sign it all off. My mk1 for example is with laid up cover @15k. Costs me £70 a year and i had no issues getting this as an agreed value. J
Yeomans22 Posted May 7, 2012 Author Report Posted May 7, 2012 Hi, thanks for the advice, its true I couldn't buy that car again at £6500, if I went to classic ford this year I doubt there would be any laurel green 2 door with a green interior turning up, I will sort out an agreed value for around 10k Thanks Paul
