fezza Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Having issues with my temp gauge just in time for classic ford Ive read that there are different senders indicater by colour? and the wrong combination can cause the gauge to read incorrectly or not at all,how do tell what sender is correct for my car, obviously its a pinto and i think the clocks are from a ghia?? Any help
Col-ashtonmobile Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 the colour is where the terminal is , there,s black , blue , red , pink , yellow, grey , green , the one you need is actually white and a bullet terminal not a spade, should be able to get one from motor factors if not give us a shout as we have new ones
fezza Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 The sender has to be earthed through the engine Darren yes? so screwing the sender into the engine earths it ?
Savvi Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Just been through this myself. Just fit a normal Ghia temp sender as your using the original guages When you think about it, it's obvious just cos it's another engine it's the guage that does the reading, water still gets the same temp

I've had issues with my gauge to

You need the correct colour for the gauge in your dash, where ever that has been sourced from.
silverstreak Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 mine is red my sender unit is fooked so got alloy rad with electric fan will get new sender unit one day
fezza Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 Thanks for the info Col,i'll pick a white one up tomorrow Just out of interest,i have an in-line temp sender in the top hose,am i right in thinking i cant use this with a normal gauge as its not earthed??
Col-ashtonmobile Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 is the one in the hose not a capillary type ?
Col-ashtonmobile Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 its not electrical is like a probe that gets warm directly to the gauge
fezza Posted May 22, 2012 Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 No mate its not one of those,it has a temp sender just like the pinto one
