Ok, so I'm moving house at the weekend. I have phoned AOheL and they are telling me they don't have broadband in the area I am moving to, WTF !! I thought everyone got it everywhere. Anyhow, BT tell me they do have it and can offer me the following packages;

10 GB Download (10,200 photo's blah blah) Free for 6 months then £13 a month

OR

40 GB (40,900 photo's, blah blah) £9 for 3 months then £18 per month.

OR unlimited, £20 for 3 months then £26 per month..

Now, as much as I would like unlimited I would also like to only be paying £13 per month. I have no idea what 10 GB of download means. Its says approx 10,200 photo's 2500 music files or 15 movies.

If I click on a thread on this forum and someone has put up 50 photo's, is that downloading ?? Will I need more than 10GB ?

My kids might play some games for no more than half an hour each day, my mrs probably buys a pair of shoes each day from internet sites and I browse on here and ebay etc.. What do I need ? Help !! lol !

Go for the 40. I reckon you would run out with only 10. If you watch a video on YouTube or iPlayer etc they count towards your 'download' limit, though technically you are only streaming the content. Not 100% sure if viewing photos online counts as I have 'unlimited' broadband.

What we need here is a 'fessional ;)

Thank you for your advice :thumbsup:

I am on a tight budget so would like to save money by going for one of the cheaper options if I don't need unlimited.

My rent will be dearer, council tax dearer, my journey to work is twice as far so fuel bill will double, need to claw a bit back somewhere !!

Any 'fessionals have more advice for me ? :)

Can you ring AOL and find out what your download levels have been like with them? Talktalk were able to give me that information during a recent telephone conversation I had with them

I can do 10 GB in a day without trying.

I'd expect you would hit 10GB if you're a 'normal' size family in about 5 days. Proably hit the 40GB limit in about 3 weeks.

Mrs phoned them today, apparently as we have unlimited they don't measure what we are using. Sounds like BS to me..

They will always measure the amount of bandwidth you use, then throttle your line when you go over their (sometimes hidden) limit, it's part of every 'fair usage' policy.
