flyingbanana Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 is it worth it...............or go for soda blasting not looking forward to lots of grinding again
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 i was thinking about this but i have a feeling there wouldnt be alot to come back
joe1600 Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 Never had a car acid dipped but from talking to people that had it done they have all said its worth it because it gets into everywhere meaning nothing is missed and you can send it back after all the repairs and have it 'E' coated
Admin Vista Posted October 13, 2012 Admin Report Posted October 13, 2012 Yes, I've had it done and would say it's definitely worth it. Don't skip the e-coating part of the process though as that would leave all the internals of your chassis rails as bare metal. Click the link under my sig for details of before and after for comparison.
flyingbanana Posted October 13, 2012 Author Report Posted October 13, 2012 did you get it done at spl by any chance? their pricing a bit vauge on their site...what was the total £ to do both things on your motor scott..assuming it was with spl
Admin Vista Posted October 13, 2012 Admin Report Posted October 13, 2012 It was SPL and I think it was about 2.5k though this included a partial redip fee as I took it away to have the shell work done before going back for the e-coat.
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 fook that think im going to start collecting the acid out all the scrap batterys i have as the garage
bozie Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 I wish I dipped mine I did a bare metal restore with paint stripper and sandpaper it was weeks of work and it did the job but within 3 years I had signs of rust coming through. But I never had £2500 for dipping. So if you got the budget I would go for it.
