Admin Vista Posted November 3, 2012 Admin Report Posted November 3, 2012 Quite rare I guess would be the answer. It preceded the 1300E and was sold alongside the 1300GT but with a more basic trim package than the GT. They, I think, had a bolt on rev counter mounted separately alongside a standard twin clock binnacle for instance. The Sporting Escort Owner's club might be able to give you more info if you give them a call? http://www.seoc.co.uk/index.htm Here's a very nice one I stumbled across in a car park..................in New Zealand of all places!
rallyesport04 Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 geraldine has a 1300 sport she was the secretary of the club if you have a copy of the factory original sporting mk1 escorts book there is a section on sports with geraldines car in
fatboycharlie Posted November 5, 2012 Author Report Posted November 5, 2012 Tells you all you'd want to know mate wicked mate thanks for that
XjamesX Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 I know of a 1300 sport sat under a load of junk in a warehouse near me, there's a 100e in it also which I will buy if I can ever find anywhere to put it as my garage is full with the escort (my sob story / the thing that has been bummin' me out for the last two months since I went up and took a look!) ha ha I am right in thinking it is actually one of the rarest / "the rarest" model? (excluding twin cam and rs1600)?
stuartp Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 yeah that book is great (i'm reading the mk2 one at the moment and that is great too) seoc will have any answers you require but might not be too speedy in getting back to you (in my experience) if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to put them in an issue of the club magazine (although the next one won't be until early next year now)
Savvi Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 That book is great The Sporting Escort owners club is struggling to get anything done these days, i spoke to Geradine a short while ago and since Peter passed away she's stuggling to sort anything out, she was hoping that someone might want to take it on and give her some help but seems no one stepped up, apart from the guy who did the website tech stuff who has managed to keep it alive. Shame cos i was a member when i had my Mexico rep back in the 90's and apart from the Avo club was the only club that catered for "other" Mk1's.
stuartp Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 The Sporting Escort owners club is struggling to get anything done these days.... sadly this is true i can only do my little bit (making the magazine), i don't have the time or the skills to run a car club but there must surely be someone out of the several hundred members that could
