bigglesmk2 Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Ok, The struts are on but the track rod ends are to big for the hole on the capri struts... ....im guessing I need capri track rod ends but will they go on the end of the escort steering rack? Also, the front end is abit high for my likeing....what would be the best size and lb springs for a cross flow powered road car ?
Admin Vista Posted November 17, 2012 Admin Report Posted November 17, 2012 Assuming you have a MK2 escort steering rack, you need mk2 RS2000 track rod ends. I'm pretty sure Capri track rod ends will have an imperial thread. I can't tell you what springs you'll need but the standard 2.8i Capri ones will be far too stiff as they're for a heavy cast iron V6 lump
Tall paul Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 You'll need RS2000 green track rod ends. I've got -2" 170lb springs on mine but mines got a pinto in so you might need abit softer springs, hope this helps
bigglesmk2 Posted November 18, 2012 Author Report Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks peeps Blimey thems track rod ends ain't cheap

escortmad79 Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I ran 2.8i struts on my first mk2 Escort & did the old fashioned method of getting the holes milled to fit the track rod ends. I unscrewed the standard track rod ends & took them along with the struts to a foundry & got them to mill the holes to suit. Not the most ideal method but it worked
