Tracey Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I declared sorn on my OSF in 2010 and assumed that was it Just rang them as noticed online it said unlicensed ... They said I need to declare sorn each year.. ( I had no reminders since 2010!!!) I've just declared it SORN on the automated phone line and got the ..there has been a break in your sorn, blah blah fine Now am I going to get fined? Even though the car is tax exempt anyway?
Admin Vista Posted March 4, 2013 Admin Report Posted March 4, 2013 You do have to declare it SORN every year unfortunately but they should send reminders, I always get one for my car that is SORN. Yes it's possible they will send you a fine but wait and see as with your car being tax exempt anyway, they might not.
mk2 mike Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I think you'll be unlucky to get a fine, but with the DVLA who knows? As said you should get a reminder, maybe check that the address is correct (old address on the system etc)
Tracey Posted March 4, 2013 Author Report Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks, I hope I don't The address they have is correct as they sent me a SORN reminder in 2010
GJUK Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I have a reminder on my Gmail for cars I have sorn'd. That said They have never failed to remind me that I can give them money should I wish.
marky4 Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 That would be unlucky if you do get fined, fingers crossed you don't.
Posse Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I reckon it will be fine Tracey I don’t see the point in declaring tax except cars sorn anyway lol
welshmike Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I sorned mine in 2009 when i got it, never renewed it or got a reminder and i taxed it for the first time in october. no mention of any fines or anything from anyone so you should be ok
Skimmer Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 When the sorn thing first came out I got a £80 fine for the not being sorn'd ,though when I sold the car it had tax on it and the new owner denied all knowledge of ownership ,I know it was unreal but I still got the £80 fine that's why since then I make a point of sorning anything a lesson learnt ,good luck in NOT getting the fine
