worst thing being i am loosing interest and fast... :-(

yet my daily this year is only gonna cost me 500 to insure this year with 2 years ncb (2012 ford fiesta metal 134bhp) :mad2:

on a classic policy £15,000 all mods declared and even that policy couldn't be given to me apparently. :banghead:

Claire @ A plan is worth a go.

Or Adrian Flux for the younger driver (god I feel old typing that)

What about just adding you as an additional driver on your dads insurance on it at the mo?

As you'll only be driving it to and from shows and meets etc.

It's a bitch, I was there a few years ago. 18 year old are not meant to have 'classic' cars. That's what insurance companies think anyway.

Keep at it, you will pay a lot to insure your car however, with mods.

That is not how it should be done.

Just as well. 'Fronting' is illegal, you'd be committing fraud (by false representation) and insurance companies are shit hot on this at the minute. I know for a fact that some insurance companies are using private surveillance teams to get evidence of suspected 'fronters' and have them prosecuted.

You think your premiums are high now? Wait till you tell the insurance company you have a conviction for 'fronting' and see if they'll insure you!

I know its shit but just hang in there and you'll get insured eventually.

Yeah i know mate, thats why i got my own policy on my daily. I did ask if i could be added to my dads policy but i would only driven it on wales run, not to any other events.

I'm hoping i can insure soon and at the minute it feels like dead money sitting there.

I got my mk2 Escort van insured with Footman James for ~£160.  I'm 29, but they were the best quote by a country mile.. several actually.  Might be worth giving them a ring.

I insured my old sierra cosworth with footman james on a classic policy and wasnt part of any club, saying that... it was a couple of years ago and they may have changed the rules since

One of the problems could be due to the mods you have, if you remove them you may be able to insure it cheaper as it would be to manufacturers spec.  In general insurance companies don't like mods on any cars, and they are no fan of imports either.

Whats the spec of your car Ross? Whats your job? and do you live in a dodgy area or something? kept in a garage at night? I have been insuring modified old skool fords since i was 17, never had any issues, some expensive quotes but never payed more than about £3000 a year. Im 22 now, insured on my Mk1 Capri as a daily, all mods declared, £1500. Might be worth dropping in a standard lump for a while? at least then your driving it.

If they'd make insurance cheaper then there'd be no need to go on your parents policy

Im on my own policy as I use it everyday, had to fork out alot for the first year, but got a cheap deal this year. Somehow went for £3000 last year, to £650 this year? :S Insurance companies must make the price up as they go along  But you can see why people do it, its pretty much half the price.....
