iv noticed lately there are a helluva lot of people tackling projects on their own now the projects section is thriving with resurrections

your right about the long hard slog i have had every saturday on mine from christmas and it looks like about an hours work but i love it cant wait to get the underside done then i can take it home and spend more time on it :D

i've spend over 10 hours, two grinders, 5 wire brush bits, 2 wire brushes and a litre of brake cleaner in the last two weeks getting fooking underseal off :evil:

hiya, dude,

if you are trying to remove the old underseal the best way is a blowtorch to warm it up and scrape of as much as possible then just use parafin on a rag and wipe and it will come off really easily!!

will need plenty of rags and do it with long sleaves cos if you get the underseal too hot it melts and runs as you scrape it and if it lands on your arm if f-ing hurts!! :cry::cry:

done lots of cars like this in the past and it works a treat!!!

if you cant get a blowtorch then a heat gun wil work but not as quickly!!

Dont wipe off the underseal with the Parafin rags and then decide to light up the torch to do a bit more. you may be in for a BIG surprise,

cheers m8 but at college they dont like me doing stuff like that :? i wasnt even allowed to spray he crossmember inside the workshop because it would set off the smoke detecters :evil:

it still hasnt stopped my chassis rails from rusting :sad: , wish i didnt clean this section off :wink:

do it once and do it right !!! better now than a year down the line, car all painted , looking and going well and then you fail your mot !! and have to read reports on here of all the great event you have missed cos you are sweating you the round ones off grinding and welding up where the metal mice have been!!!

I like to try do things myself even if they do take longer, but body work :shock: I cant stand the other day I looked down the side of the car thats been aganist a wall for a year and remembered the long sctrach someone put in the car the day I got it and a big scab of rust, I will have to sort them out. Looks like my car will be orange and primer for brighton :sad:
