Had a nightmare, left my car covered up in the rain, outside, took the cover off and the paint has reacted against the cover. It looks like someone has poured brake fluid over it. Nightmare!

Oh dear. I'm not following though, is that why it's going away to be sorted or did that happen while it was being transported? Either way, how long was it under the cover for to do tbat?

Believe it or not, it was under the cover for about 8 hours. Its been nothing but problems since I've had it. Unfortunately for me, I'm the 13th owner so think its a bit of a bad omen. Its going away to have the underneath under sealed and tidied up a bit and hopefully they can sort the bodywork out at the same time....

was it a recent paint job? my new cover has a warning saying not to use on new paint within 3 months, bit gutted with that as i got it specially to cover my escort thats being painted right now!

i had a similar reaction on my mk3 rst a few years ago.had a full paint job ,covered it a few months later and then the paint sweated and left a load of micro blisters :(:( not touched the car in about 5 years !

My paint has small blisters too in places. I've been told it was water in the primer.

cant see that, primer has to be wet flatted with water prior to top coat anyway, more like water droplets in the top coat from the compresser as it was sprayed

I don't wet flat any primer or paint its all dry sanding for me

some times micro blisters are cause by water but most times its caused but solvent popping ie thinners

or using cheap gun wash thinner in paint or primer

considering most paints used is water based and most lacquer voc compliant which means thinner free

then maybe wet sanding has cause micro blisters

micro blistering usualy comes below the paint

mostly from water or solvent

but another issue is not draining compressor and having the proper water oil two or three stage filter for body shops.

tis all money but a clean air supply is a must
