Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 i had 2 inch sportex on my mk1 on 1.3 and 1.7 load but didnt kill my ears was single box single exit
YOUNGY Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 put single box system and manifold on the wifes 2.0 mk2 escort well pleased with it for the money, smelt a bit when the paint was burning of but not for to long
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 that is what im running i have a spare one infact and manifold
SebringRS Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Got one on mine, not too bad, just on mine seems to either hit on the leaf spring on the rear box, or the pipe hits the rear strut mounting, have managed to tilt it so it misses both so not the end of the world Had mine about 2 months and the baffles have come loose in the rear box, but one email to Peter Lloyd Rallying and they're sending me a replacement free But other than that, it fitted really easy, that easy I did it one afternoon on my own And as for sound, im running a twin box 2" system, and its loud enough i'd say, especially for motorway use etc., and has a nice burble for getting noticed at cruising speeds
GJUK Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 I have one on my 2litre pinto, sounds nice and loud. fit okay as well.
2litreScapri Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Got one on my Capri. Mixed reviews about it from people but although mine was a pain to fit right some tweaking helped. Sounds nice too. Might be easier fitting on an Escort though.
johnnyspencer Posted June 26, 2013 Author Report Posted June 26, 2013 still not sure on single or twin box, might end up tossing a coin on this one! either way il be getting one of them
GT Tonry Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 hi guys, Fitted a complete single box 'sportex' system on my mk1 inc four branch manifold. The best thing about it is that it allowed me to retain my servo, as I did not want to go down the bias pedal box route. Sound bloody nice too on my pinto.
Kevin Mk2 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 I'm tempted to get a single box sportex & manifold to tide me over until I can afford a full stainless system or even until I decide whether I'm going to stick with the 16 crossflow. At that price, why not. Does anyone know if the exhaust for a mk2 saloon will fit the Van?
texr2000 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 spose could buy twin box if u want a little more sound cut the box out, only some 2" pipe. if its anything like the ashley systems i found the twin box was a nice sound, then i went for a single box 3" tip one and now is allot louder! the little box at the back seems to deaden little sound
Gooey Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Got a pair of Sportex manifolds and exhausts on my Capri, fitment was a bit dubious although the rear end got hacked up and rerouted to avoid the stupid width wheels Oh and then as I thought it wasnt loud enough, I removed the 2 boxes and fitted a pair of foot and a half cherrybombs, lovely at idle, full on bi plane kamakaze dive at anything over 3k revs
Savvi Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 I'm tempted to get a single box sportex & manifold to tide me over until I can afford a full stainless system or even until I decide whether I'm going to stick with the 16 crossflow. Saloon exhaust won't be a straight fit on any van as the fuel tank is in the way, however if you cut the pipe near the rear box and rotate the box 90 degrees they normally fit ok then. 1
