Muzzman Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I have no idea if my car has been converted to run on unleaded or not, is there any way to tell? I've bought some fuel additive, what's worse to run a car converted to take unleaded with additive or a car not converted with no additive?
Admin Vista Posted August 3, 2013 Admin Report Posted August 3, 2013 If in doubt and worried about it, use the additive. The one I prefer is Castrol Valve master plus 1
5tox Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 what engine mate? if its a pinto generally the EFI engines can run unleaded, if the carb head has been converted to run unleaded they have something stamped into the side of the head possibly a 'P' but not 100% sure
Muzzman Posted August 3, 2013 Author Report Posted August 3, 2013 Hi 5tox, it's got a Crossflow in it
Fiesta Steve Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I've never used any additives In my crossflows which includes 'race' spec engines and daily drivers, none seemed to have suffered any signs of abnormal wear due to the lack of lead. <br /> I'm not suggesting you do nothing but it certainly isn't worth worrying about, but what do I know lol 1
5tox Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I could write what i know about a x-flow on a postage stamp but i'm sure some of the other guys on here can point you in the right direction
rallyesport04 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 without having the head off you wont know for sure unless you know who built the engine or have a receipt for unleaded valve seats
