On Sunday 30th of June 2013 at around 19.25pm a VERY DEAR friend of ours and a member of the old skool Ford family was involved in a fatal collision on his motor bike on the M26 whilst returning from a day out with his family at a jetski center that he loved to visit near Margate in Kent. He's death has completely stunned all that knew him. Darren " Rocky " Rochford was truly nice guy with a huge passion for the mk1 escort and had 1 of the best in the country put together with an attention to detail rarely ...seen.
On August the 18th 2013 there will be a retro car run in his memory to the jetski center he spent his last day.
We will meet at CLACKETT LANE SERVICES on the ANTI CLOCKWISE section of the M25 (toward dartford crossing) at ****** 7.00am ******** Will head down the M26 (passing the spot where Darren fell ) where you will be invited to blast your hooters/hit your rev limiters Then on to Margate via M20 A249 M2 A299 and straight into Margate.

Andy Harris (HPE family) Has kindly donated 3 trophies which will be awarded to the best old skool in show.  ect we will also include Sierra Cosworth’s and the exception will be Darren’s close friend Jay in his much loved Focus RS RWD Cosworth

Jetskiworld will be hosting the event with a BBQ and music at their sandy cove. We want to make this an annual event so would ask everyone to behave and no sideways burnouts ect ect on the date

There will be a windscreen sticker tax disc sized that can be purchased with all proceeds going to his family, we will also be carrying out raffle to help too details of this to follow

Due to time scale we have to narrow the amount of cars arriving at the event due to numbers , We would like to now keep the event down to oldskoolfords with special invites for a few other cars invited by the Family and Friends of Darren , If I could ask anyone thinking of bringing any other vehicle please speak with Myself , Terry eff , John , Zac , Matt as parking at the main car park will be marshalled and only the selected vehicle will be allowed into main car park and the selected bays unless prior arrangement with us . The meeting point will be Clackett Lane services at 7.00 am Sunday 18Th August leaving 7.15am sharp and meeting up with others arriving at Medway services “ note these will leave service station at 7.45am to meet with the Clackett Lane convoy on route “ There is lots of parking at ...the top section of Jetski world and this is Open to the public so please feel free to bring your cars and park in that section of Margate

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE WE INTEND ON MAKING THIS A YEARLY EVENT AND AS SUCH WILL ASK EVERYONE COMING PLEASE NOT TO PLAY SILLY BUGGERS NO BURN OUTS DOUGNUTS OR SIDEWAYS ACTION , I KNOW IAM ONE OF THE 1ST TO DO THIS SORT OF THING BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THIS AND IT WILL HELP MAKING IT A BIGGER AND BETTER EVENT NEXT YEAR IF WHERE ALOUD BACK AGAIN THAT IS

I will be attending in my mk1. I am meeting up with Jeff Harris and we will meet up at Clacketts. I would like a sticker and will make a donation. I must confess I didn't personally know him however I saw his car in Classic Ford and was very impressed. My heartfelt feelings go out to his friends and family and it will be an honour to attend.

pretty poor turn out from the site to be honest but the hardcore who did go made it well worthwhile
