Ok with me still being new to OSF's

What's the difference between a Mexico and sport?

As if I've been reading right they have same engine just different interior and wheels?

If you mean MK2 Escorts they are very different cars. For a start a 1.6 sport has a x-flow engine and a Mexico has a OHC Pinto 1.6 in it. Shells are different too etc etc

Ok appologies should of stated mk2

Didn't realise the engines were different as I'm a full noob on them just bought a SA mk2 sport and don't even know the difference between the xflow and pinto yet as I'm starting from scratch

I've ordered a book from Amazon which will hopefully explain all the differences between models, engines ect but that won't be here until next week like and I'm itching with 101 questions to ask

The pinto is an Overhead cam engine and the x-flow isn't. That said, the 1600 x-flow has better tuning potential than the 1600 pinto.

Sports are plenty desirable in their own right, as all flat front 2 doors are so don't be discouraged because it isn't a Mex. The differences in the shell are only superficial anyway and will only be noticeable to an expert

basically the only difference apart from cosmetic as in interior

one has pinto 16

one a xflow 16

sports didn't all come with rear spoiler

all had bumper over riders and spots

mexico had front and rear spoilers standard

shell plate .bottom of stut strengtheners

spring hanger skids

strut top plates .strengtheners under wings on strut tops

im unsure if they had tramp bars as standard and mayb the little bracket on bulk head for clutch or speedo

they also have spare wheel strap  bracket in a different place

and maybe more im also unsure of

Except

South African 1600 sports are RS2000 shells with a flat front,

And have all the above as standard front spoiler but no rear spoiler

Where as the UK 1600 shells are just 1.3 shells
