4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Was wondering what people are finding the best detailing products out there? Let me know what your using such as waxes, glass cleaners and cloths etc! Cheers Al
Mgentry90 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Ear wax, sperm and pubes. Seems to roughen the dirt up enough to get out and shiny. My cars been parked up for over 6 month for an engine swap. And the engine ain't even sitting in yet! So mine doesn't get the rubbing it deserves unfortunately
EscortDan Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Depends how deep your pockets are really as you can spend a serious amopunt of money on a pot of wax, let alone everything else! It's down to skill as well, i would get some meguiars stuff first and have a try with that and go on the detailing forums and look at the how too guides, but be warned once you start that's it, your on a very slippery slope lol!
Graham Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I use Autobrite direct products nowadays https://www.Retards Club.com/pages/Autobrite-Direct-UK/106381462225?fref=ts
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 Thanks for the replies, Its for Werthers the RS2000 in the Sig pic. We have some good stuff but as always things are changing and better things are out there! Just wondered what others are using!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 14, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 14, 2013 I use Autoglym stuff on my cars but I also hear that Maguires is very good too
Mgentry90 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I've used turtle wax before, how does that stand against the maguires and auto glym stuff these days?
1.1_Mk1 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 What's your budget? For example I can recommend a wax at about £13 a tub which out performs a £40 wax. But likewise recommend waxes that cost £10k a tub. How long do you want to spend cleaning / detailing and how much effort do you want to put in? Main thing is prep though. You can spend thousands on kit, but if you don't put the effort in you're wasting your money. Even on the cheap stuff.
1.1_Mk1 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I use Autoglym stuff on my cars but I also hear that Maguires is very good too Try Dodo Juice and Auto Finesse stuff. Fairly similar price when you break it down and it's much better quality imo. 1
1.1_Mk1 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I've used turtle wax before, how does that stand against the maguires and auto glym stuff these days? Imo its ok for using on the stainless bin in the kitchen
mk2 mike Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 It's all the same crap IMO. I've worked for professional car valeters based in a Ferrari and Porsche dealership, we tried nearly every polish and wax around but ended up just using turtle wax. The cars always looked stunning. It's all about the effort you put in. Buy whatever you can afford or are prepared to pay and roll your sleeves up!

Some of the biggest most expensive dealerships have the worst prep out there though imo. But I do agree that over a certain price you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference in finish an lsp gives. It then comes down to durability etc.
EscortDan Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 I agree with dodo juice wax, it's very good but as already said it's all about the wash and prep before you start doing the fun parts. I can easily spend 2 days detailing a car, and believe me it is very easy to wash and keep clean after that! I use dodo juice, poorboys, megs, autobrite, loasds of different stuff, it's expensive but spend money on good quality microfibre cloths and aplication pads etc. it makes a real difference. Dan 1
gwtaylor22 Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 best product i use is a 5 pound asda cleans it for you car wash, 5 min in and out
gwtaylor22 Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 If you can wait a week or 2 I'll scan a 3 page spread on Maguires as i've had it a couple of years it tells you what to buy Maguires obviously how to apply and Maguires even run organised days teaching you how to wash and polish your car
4DOOR-SHERWOOD Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 Good to hear what people are using, I personally like auto glym products and use R222 concours look wax. That makes the Cossack escort look a really deep red! The Werthers escort is the hard one to detail as it's so perfect it's scary to even think about touching it to clean it! This is the underside and engine bay! 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 16, 2013 Admin Report Posted October 16, 2013 Rich Sav uses Maguires and his car was beautiful before the fire. It will be even more bufty when he's finished it Al. 1

FredTransit Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Poundshop, poudland, Asda whatver. You do what yer gotta do when pushed. I once sprayed a van with Mr Sheen after it bloomed in the paintshop over night and it was out the following day. Even wiped em over with derv when very desperate. Dont try this at home kids.
