As above, I have a fast road tuned 1600 crossflow with lumenition ignition and rev limiter modules and I have just found a Lucas Super Energy Sports coil that is gold in colour. Is this a good coil to use and what do you use?

If thats a DL105 then you can only use them in a set up that has no ballast resistor like an Anglia or a mini.

I suspect the MkI has a ballast resistor somewhere in the ignition circuit.

Some do, some don't... It's a question of tracing the loom back Johnny boy

turn the ignition on and check what voltage your getting at the coil. if its 12v its all good. if its 9v trace the wire back to the ignition cut it off and repace it. JD :D

i would say it "should" have a ballast resistor. the ballast wires i know are inside the loom so you would have to cut it open. Just run a wire along the loom and forget about the current one.

Bringing this thread full circle back to ignition systems (rude girls  ) I use a Gold Lucas coil and I'm pretty sure it's a DL105. works well and never given me any trouble, unfortunately I can't help on your ballast resistor question.
