Can any of you guys help with recommendations or suggestions?

I've been asked to drive a good mate (the bride) and her father to her wedding, then to the reception after. Total distance covered is no more than about 10 miles. My mate can't afford a wedding car and was going to drive herself in her 03 plate focus! So I thought I'd sort a car as a wedding present for her.

Now I'm no tightarse BUT, I resent paying £500 quid for a 15 min journey. I was thinking I could hire a nice car and drive them myself. I was thinking range rover, Audi Q7 or S class merc or similar but finding it hard to get one for just a day or two. I found that Avis rents rangies but for a 4 day minimum at a cost of £1100!!

Anyone know of anyone who has a similar car that would rent/drive for me? The date is Saturday 6th Sept 2014 in High Beach Essex. (She said she doesn't want an osf lol)

Thanks guys. :)

I've no idea why it's spaced like it has above, I spaced the paragraphs out! Sorry if its hard reading, I can't change it :(

Sorted. Tapatalk does that sometimes, were you posting using that?

Problem you'll find is that most hire car places are only open half a day on a Saturday so at minimum you'd need to pay for a 2 day hire, picking it up Saturday morning and returning it Monday morning. For instance, A 2 day hire from Avis for a large executive car like a C class merc will cost you around £450 anyway, shift that up to an E class and you're over £700!

On the other hand, this place is quoting  £142 for a 24 hour hire of a luxury car from Alamo in Enfield. 17:00 Friday till 17:00 Saturday good enough? You take a chance on what you'll get though, as with any hire car firm.

Thanks mate that'll be great. I think I've sorted a Porsche Panamera from a mate who owns a dealership but if that falls through your mate will be next option. Will know in a few days so will let you know. Thanks again Paul. :)

The bigger problem is you might not be insured to use it at the wedding.

if its not for hire or reward ie a taxi then there shouldnt be any issues with a hire car as a wedding car as it will be for private use

Aye, but have a prang with a bride in the back. It might be difficult to get them to understand that...

tbh every car an van ive ever hired they have always asked me what im doing or going with it, if you tell the hire company your using it to take a bride to a wedding an they say no you could put the bride as a named driver it cannot be for hire or reward if both people in the car are named drivers.  to be fair im sure it wont be a issue tho im sure people would belive you if you told them the truth that the hire car is a wedding presant, a gift is not hire or reward.  personaly i think a hire car is a great idea if you put wedding in the title of anything it gets multiplyed rip off merchants just cos its a special day blah blah blah

I've never been asked what I'm doing with a car/van ever before.

Having worked in insurance I would at least tell them what your intention is, I wouldnt assume they will ask you if you are going to used the car for a wedding. Afterall why would they?
