popeye Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Hi peeps........... Anyone into RC cars / trucks.... Trying to get this fooker going again, HSP Bugcrusher 1/10th scale Infinity 18 Engine 1
irishtorag Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 top screw in full and out again two and a half to 3 turns.side screw unsure maybe 1 and a half new plug pull once with finger over xhaust to bring fuel to carb 1
theloudboy Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 If you have the instructions it will give you the base line settings for the carb screws, check the glow plug is ok they can brake after you have used it once, how old is the fuel it picks water up out of the air so will not work if the lid has been left off for long periods of time, I raced 1/8 scale on road race cars for a good few years.

Brought this few years ago, fired up ok...shoot off down the garden hitting the fence and smash the body... So I thought. Fix it up and replace the body.. New fuel New glow plug New batteries Tried the settings you have both mentioned ,but still no joy....
popeye Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 will you ever grow up lol NO........... Wait till you see the body
PaulMags Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 dont tell me it's goint to be a rep of yours lol
irishtorag Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 ask a silly question but is the glow stick fully charged and does it light plug when not in engine never thought to ask u said it just took off down garden is that with out touching remote because the clutch can stick causing them hard to start also is there much compression when pull starting because if ran too fast or lean before run in time is finished the feck the piston and liner up. not xpensive or hard to fix though as for growing up popeye ...sure isn't that why we have bigger toys now because the house is bigger than the wee pram we were in don't feel bad I have 6 rc cars in garage from pro to beginner and a t-maxx jeep also 1
popeye Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 ask a silly question but is the glow stick fully charged and does it light plug when not in engine glow stick ok and glows when not in the engine...!
popeye Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 dont tell me it's goint to be a rep of yours lol you know...don't ya.
irishtorag Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 without having in front of me id say either fuel adjust which is the large main screw (move quarter turn either way each try but not in fully) although I had a hpi that ran better at 1 turn out while most run better 2/2.5 turns out as said it can also be piston and liner causing problem too 1
popeye Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 Excellent... thanks for your time fella....have a try the weekend.
irishtorag Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 WELCOME sure that's what we are here for
theloudboy Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 What does the engine do when you pull the pull start, cos if it started and ran out of control the piston and liner could now be damaged
popeye Posted January 12, 2014 Author Report Posted January 12, 2014 had a go today, pull start works ok..glow plug ok...doesn't seem to draw petrol even with the exhaust covered...
katana Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Thats cos you don't cover the exhaust.....you cover the inlet! The piston provides the suction / vacuum and if it can't get air, it will pull fuel instead. But don't do it more than a couple of times and never with the glow clip on - the neat fuel will kill the plug!
irishtorag Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 cover pipe on end of xhaust to draw fuel not inlet. there mayb a pipe from tank to xhaust either breaks or falls off but still on urs main cause for fuel not drawing is leaking manifold gasket, faulty tank (common problem) or pipe not tight enough. anyway not only did I race them I also done the tune ups and build ups for model shop including customer services lol just saying. unfortunately it needs preasure from xhaust to keep fuel running.. but check u haven't over tighten the top screw where fuel feed enters. remove and gently clean screw gently home full then back 2 till 2.5 turns out and work from there
irishtorag Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 the rubber pipe from xhaust to manifold also slits causing problems
