Jon_d_h Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Hello everyone Just signed up to the site. Thought I would say hello. Have just bought a escort mk2 1600 sport. In the process of stripping it to start getting the shell and body work rust free and looking like new then start building it back up. Still haven't decided one an engine choice or whether or not to fit Forrest arches :/ any advice or opinions welcome. Jon
irishtorag Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Hi welcome Jon_d_h Best advice is do your own thing its your car and its you that has to be happy. Lots of arched cars and lots of standard cars about but ultimately its down to choice "Yours"
mk2 mike Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Welcome to the site mate. What state is the car in now, does it need the current arches replacing?
over_head_cam Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Wecome Jon. Put some pics up in the projects room
Jon_d_h Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 I will put photos up soon and will do a build diary on here. I do like the forest arches but my arches are mint with next to no rust. Overall, the shell is really good condition, may need a few patches here and there to make mint but nothing major. Now just debating whether to get a zetec or st170 engine and wht to run them on :/ I have done 2 zetecs on bike carbs in the past but thinking throttle bodies this time.
XjamesX Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Welcome. My advice would be go with what makes you happy. Personally if I had a 1600 sport I wouldn't put forest arches on it, if I wanted to go down that route I'd do it to a "regular" 2dr escort. A sport looks nice as it is, standard arches, sport decals, but maybe hit with the lowering stick, and some nice wheels, nice hot crossflow in it. But that's just me 1
