I understood that this was an area where anything can be discussed not just cars.i also know

this area of topic is like walking in a minefield.what i dont understand is why so many dont want

to talk about it.im only asking for peoples opinions/this situation in Britain today seems to be right at the

front of most recent news topics.yet it seems the great british public doesnt seem to want to express there own thoughts

WHY.??nothing is going to change is it..was just asking thoughts

Because it's a subject about which there are strong opinions from both sides of the argument. Invariably the discussion starts well but sooner of later descends into mud slinging and name calling. None of us have the time to deal with that.

expressing your feelings on the net can lead you into serious trouble nowadays sad but true

I would quite happily express my views / opinions but feel that it might be deemed as offensive to others . So for the good of the forum I will keep my opinions to myself and it seems others may also feel inclined to do the same.

Yes everyone has an opinion,

be it poms .paddys.polish. etc

Its a free world owned by no one

its mearly how Governments handle it and that aint too good.

So leave politics to the lunatics and keep OSF exactly for

               OLD SKOOL FORDS

The only opinion anyone wants is on their CARS imo

I love this forum, I love this Country, there are loads of people with strong opinions about immigration and it will turn into something horrible.  My Dad was an immigrant, he came over in the 60s, he worked for 30 years for the NHS, he loved this Country, he worked really hard and paid all his taxes.  He loved old Fords and got me into old Fords.  He made many friends here from all back grounds.

Take people as you meet them, talk to them, get to know them and you'll find that most people are just trying to get by and make a living...

Please don't start a debate over immigration because it always leads to bad comments.  I was born here, educated here and I love this Country more than anything.  My wife is white English but I am brown... some people don't like me and that makes me sad because I don't mean harm to anyone.  My kids are obviously mixed race and will always face discrimination but I teach them to laugh it off and make friends with everyone.

Anyway, I agree with the opinions above, keep politics out of this and keep it old Skool Ford!  Back to a better topic!

My current car and old ones...

I don't care where people come from ... as long as they're here to work hard, pay their taxes and not claim benefits, are prepared to become an integrated member of my community and learn to speak my language then they're welcome to be my neighbour.

Personally I think admin should lock this posting and keep old skool ford for just that and normal chat people like to talk about publicly

Keep politics and topics that can cause insult to many people out of it

There's nothing wrong with the topic as is,  in my opinion it shows restraint and maturity amongst members.

Dave, it had nothing to do with sid "not fitting in" and everything to do with him going out of his way to wind people up. People are entitled to opinions, it's how you state and phrase them that's important.

I had the opportunity to work in the local council high rise block last year, or Crack Towers as it is more informally known. The majority of the white English people were junkie/ alky scumbags living in their own sh*te arguing over who was going down the shops for a Special Brew at 9a.m.

I met two family's one from Bahgdad the other from Afganistan, neither had a pot to p*ss in,their flats were spotless and they could not have been more hospitable or pleased to have me there doing the work, one lady even presented me with a lovely cooked lunch !

If this is what constitutes an "immigrant" then i say the more the merrier.

why.there s nothing wrong with this topic.its in the chit chat section where anything can be discussed.its being dealt with

in an orderley manner .not once have i said i am against immigration.that isnt even why i started this thread.i just believed

that the British people dont want to talk about it  and seem to be pushing it under the carpet and as a matter of interest i just

wanted to know why.......if the powers to be think it should be shut down then so be it...if in someway it offends people then im

sorry for that.if i didnt want to take part in something like this then i wouldnt.and thats all i can say

Normally this type of discussion descends unto insults and stupidness. As said, there is nothing wrong with the subject matter, and where it is posted. Like Scott, I'm impressed with the measured response so far. I'd like to think we don't 'do' keyboard warriors here

I agree there is nothing wrong with topic on a topics board not aCAR CLUB BOARD  where not all members are same race and creed

The wrong comment or reply or a gobshit giving wrong opinion will cause to much crap imo

We all have an opinion of some sort which could insult others and as said above its great to see so far everyone is very grown up about this

Yes it is a sticky subject. But imo the problem we have with immigration now is not so much the people themselves, there is good and bad in all cultures including the British.  It is without doubt the problems it is causing within the social structure, ie housing, hospitals, doctors etc. The system could barely cope before and certainly is bursting at the seams now. Up here in south Lincs you have  the age old problem of certain cultures not integrating. I don't know all the answers, but whether we like it or not immigration is going to have to be capped at some point, we're a tiny island and we cant keep on building our way out of the shortage of houses/hospitals/schools. We keep building on flood plains, the recent floods have proved that to be a disaster, and so it goes on. Massive subject, with no easy answers.

Think i agree with Wilko, i have worked with and know personally quite a few people who have emigrated here. i take people as i find them, regardless of their background. There's an Indian family who live on our street, we get on great. They come to me when they have any car troubles and i do my best to help them out, i was on their roof replacing a few tiles after the storms a couple of weeks ago too. I wont accept any money from them but in return i get the odd free curry from their restaurant. They are a very respectful and polite family and i enjoy helping them out, a real asset to the community. As a comparison, right over the road from me is a single mother of 7 in her thirties. She also comes to me with her mechanical troubles, except she expects everything for free. I sourced, bought and fitted a second hand exhaust to her shitty vectra a while back so it would pass its MOT. not once did she offer me anything for doing it, i didnt even get a cup of tea. I was left out of pocket, having spent all of my Sunday on my back getting Vauxhall rust in my eyes. She has never done a days work in her life and stands in the front garden swearing at her young kids at the top of her voice. If the kids were animals i would describe them as feral, ive cought them a few times in our garden, playing on our trampoline completely uninvited and one of the girls threw stones at my Capri last summer :mad2:  Rant over, but my point is, it doesnt matter where you or your parents have come from theres good n bad from everywhere. At some point though we will have to declare our little rock 'full' and concentrate on helping the people on it, including the people who have recently moved here. Topics like this are fine to be discussed anywhere i think, as long as everyone appreciates others may have a different opinion. just dont get me started on religion
