105Charlie Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Are they really that much more fun? Planning on putting some sort of uprated diff system in my Anglia when I'm further along and have been wondering what to go for, ATB or clutch type for a while Plan's to have a slightly tuned 1700xflow in it, the car's all about fun so if the plate diff's more fun that's what I think I'll go for
Stiggy Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Yes you can sit an donut till your tyres pop, if you want. Not with an ATB. Plate type basically locks the 2 wheels together
BigBubba Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Plate type definitely better for drifting and doing donuts, but it's still possible with an ATB. Crappy short clip, but check it out. Standard Pinto with ATB (Not mine) 1
angria man Posted March 7, 2014 Author Report Posted March 7, 2014 Kind of new this one may be a minefield! Thanks to everyone who posted. Most educational indeed. From all of of your shared wisdom I think an ATB is for me. Now if anyone hasn't fitted and forgotten or has gone plate hardcore ( so I now understand!) and has an ATB suitable for my original Anglia half shafts, message me!
mk2 mike Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 I'd suggest giving Colin Ashton a call mate. (Ashton mobile are one of the site sponsors) you can have a no obligation chat about your exact needs and get tip top advice.

I think the Anglia shafts are 22 spline like the Escorts so you should be able to fit an Escort ATB. I've got an ATB in my Mk1 and it's superb. Also came with a lifetime warranty, which I don't think plate diffs do. Cheers Matt
