The Ark Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Hi All I have just become the proud owner of a 1953 Prefect E493a, the car which has always been known as the "Ark" was left to me by Sir Patrick Moore in his will. The car is in great condition and runs. I know my husband is going to get a lot of pleasure tinkering and restoring what needs doing. We are hoping to have her ready for Battlesbridge in May, as this is only a couple of miles from us. Nice to meet you all and I'm sure we will be asking lots of advise. Here she is. 1
Admin Vista Posted April 4, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 4, 2014 Welcome to OSF You may well have one if the oldest cars on here. What was the connection between you and Patrick Moore then?
The Ark Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 Hi Vista, Thanks for the welcome. We were very good friends, and I think little things meant a lot to him. In 2010 he mentioned that he had never been to the Goodwood revival, and said he would love to go and take the ark. My husband wasn't even sure if the car still ran, as Patrick nadn't been able to drive her in many years. So he tried and she started first turn of the key. I arranged tickets for Goodwood that year Hubs spent ages polishing her up then I surprised him and told him we were going. He always said he wanted the ark to go to someone who would love her as much as he did, never imagined that someone would be me though.
Admin Vista Posted April 4, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 4, 2014 Interesting. What's the story behind "the Ark" name then?

The Ark Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 Hi Vista, Hubs can tell you better as I believe this was discussed over a bottle of Jack Daniels, but its something to do with Patricks appearances on " Hitchikers guide to the galaxy"
