Fuel pipe diameter mk1 escort

I want to replace my fuel pipe for the more modern ethanol resistant stuff. Does anybody know the diameter I need. The cars not nearby for me to take a look, Mk1 mexico, cheers

If its running a standard fuel pump it should be 6mm if a remember rightly

pop to B&Q to get some microbore copper pipe in the plumbing section, 8mm will also be fine

No Darren don't buy copper pipe its eaten the steel pipes at work go to pirtek in Basildon they got it in a range of sizes

or buy the goodridge 600 hose at about £8 a metre and average £8 per fitting for the basic ones, do the job once and leave it!

I believe the size you need for standard replacement pipe is 5/16 or 8mm!

Not wishing to be controversial but ethanol is an alcohol and as most alcohols can be distilled in copper 'kettles' its effects on cooper pipe is somewhat bogus IMHO. Its effect on organic rubber and plastics can be explained chemically and so these are far more at risk.
