mexicansteve Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Couple of questions for you lovely folks, firstly what would be the biggest and smallest tyre size I could run a set of original rostyles, at present they're 165/80 all around. Secondly, I'm looking to replace the old blue box air filter with, possibly, a K & N pancake filter (any other suggestions welcome) and want to know what fits. The engine is a standard 2.0 Pinto with dual choke carb (not sure which make but it's the original as far as I know.
mexicansteve Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 No-one? Whats wrong with you all today?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 8, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 8, 2014 I'm sure everyone is having a little think before replying Steve 1
Admin Vista Posted April 8, 2014 Admin Report Posted April 8, 2014 I'm guessing your tyre size is 185/60 not 165/80? what width are the rims? Capri arches are ok for 205/60/13s but you need a reasonable rim width for those
mexicansteve Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 The tyre definitely says 165/80, I thought they'd be at least 175. I dont know the rim width. May have to measure it tomorrow.
SmokeEm Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 The rims are 5.5 inch with 165/80/13 as on mine too. That wheel will take a 185/60/13 nicely. With a 7" rim, you can go to 205/60/13 without rubbing
mexicansteve Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Thanks for that. I spoke to a lovely chap at K and N filters today who pointed me to the correct air box assembly so that's sorted now too.
