Good Morning All,

 

Well I am originally from Newcastle, working out in Joburg for the next 12 months so thought I would treat myself to a MK2 as Ive always wanted one but are crazy prices in UK now. So I had a look around and saw a few that were a bit of a mess to be honest, and some which have been 'pimped' in a disgraceful manner,  one of the in things to do over here by the looks of things is to cut huge holes in the rear panel and fit mk1 golf lights!!   Anyway bought this off a guy who was actually from the UK which was interesting, its a 1600 Sport 1979, previous owner put a 2.0 Pinto in and type 9 box. The guy had a spent a fortun in past year including full respray, full engine rebuild, electronic ignition, alarm system, uprated suspension etc etc etc.. anyway here she is at present..

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plans are: A few things need organising and sorting, wiring behind dash is a mess, boot needs stripping out and repainting, possibly change the wheels?? I dont know I quite like the originals! going to try and source a decent original interior. I have got a carb of a 3.0 that i'm thinking of putting on and getting set up. Speedo and rev cable not connected.

 

Thats it anyway looking forward to getting involved (from afar) in the forum.

I'm genuinely interested to know what a mk2 Escort with Golf lights fitted looks like.........and why anyone would want to do that?

Theres plenty over here that are styled this way, not all though, I have joined the escort forum SA and they have some fantastic looking cars, but the overall styling mindset reminds me a little bit of the early 2000's max power/F&F era!!

Yeah the seats are temporary until I find an original set, installed by previous owner and non adjustable! I quite like the look of the wheels but fancy some Minilites or similar. Cheers

I know why or how anyone would want to put a set of a golf lights on a Escort is totally beyond any comprehension. heres a pic of engine bay, not too sure about the St.Georges flag though!

 

 

 

 

Anyway I think im going to start a Project Thread as I've got some serious plans for the old girl in SA then hopefully she will be as I want when I ship her back early next year!
