ford 105e 5 speed

i am building an anglia 105e and am thinking of putting a 5 speed gearbox in it.  

is it possible to do so without cutting out the tunnel,  using the 105e gearbox,  and the the type 9 5 speed gearbox interiors?

Do you mean the internals of the type 9 in the original box?!

 

Haven't seen that before fairly certain it would have been done if it could have been. 2000e internals in a 1200 super box isn't uncommon though.

hi mate, no chance, the type 9 is twice the size of the anglia box.

i used the anglia bellhousing and clutch actuation hardware in mine but mated it to the type 9 with an adaptor plate. milton do the same type of thing but i machined mine up myself. if the car is a 997 you will need to make the centre crossmember removable but strong to retain the support across the car. you can retrofit a 1200 type one if you can find one. the prop needs about 2 inches removing and a type 9 type front yoke fitted to it ( you can use the same size spider though ) i shortened my handbrake lever but you can just bend it to one side to clear the gearlever. alternatively you can have the type 9 selector rod housing shortened ( involves ali welding ) so the gearlever is much further forward more like the original. you will of course need to make ( or buy from  milton ) a suitable gearbox crossmember and calibrate the speedo / drive to read correct.

hi again, i did read in classic ford a few months ago that someone was making a copy of the old hewland 5 speed gearset for the 2000e /anglia box, not cheap but it would probably all fit into a standard tunnel, and look factory made.
