Anyone know about Nitro R/C cars?

I went to walk my dog across the field earlier and saw this old guy playing with a Nitro R/C it looked a right fooking larf, i stood there watching for ages and thinking i've got to get me one of those (because i am really a child in a man's body)

I was looking these on ebay any thoughts? i don't want anything to serious and it seemed a good deal?

ive got a shumacher nitro 21 xtr being sold with no radio gear for £130 (radio gear u can get anywhere from £30 to £thousands googel it for pics theyre all small and low quality and i dont have any pics of my one lol hardly any use since a full diff rebuild by the manufaturers

TBH mate If I was going to get a cheap one it would be a HPI RUSH.

They are cheep as chips second hand, realy reliable if run in propally, Loads of dealers around the country and ebay. loads of spares and upgrades availabe.

That other one seems like a cheep jap thing that you may struggle finding proper spares for!

 

Keep away from imreza and cosworth type rally/touring cars as you will get pissed of only being able to go to tesco's on a sunday evening to play with it.

The best in my opinion for all round fun is one of them stadium trucks like listed above mate.

i got a few offraod battery ones, my dads got a 1/6th scale 911 with a strimmer engine the previous owner had it clokced doing 80 odd mph, i got a little 1/10th 206, petrol 2spd, fully adjustable suspension and that does 50/60 mph

Nitrotek the ebay seller is very good with spare parts , they normaqlly arrive within 2 or 3 days and they carry all the parts. A mate has the condor pro that they do and its wicked fun so wud recomend the seller

but they are worth it if u can afford it i know people with alot of different models and most wish they had waited and saved that bit more for mine!!!

the funniest thing is none of thers have reverse and mine does so they have 2 run across the field 2 take there cars outa hedges etc when stuck i just reverse mine out

 

the only mate i have that dont want mine has FG strimmer engine trucks!!!

Im no expert but Ive got some experiance with RC airplane nitro engines. Basically the engines are great BUT if they arnt run in correctly (a bit time consuming and tricky) youll have nothing but problems getting them to idle correctly. The problem with cars is that many are Xmas presents for kids who just fuel them up and take them straight out without running them in! Often they will run at full revs but wont idle or alter throttle speed very well.

Id try and get one from a older enthusiast rather than a unwanded Xmas gift, if you see what Im getting at!!
