Lightweightsteve Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Hi all, Could someone give me the heads up on fitting poly anti roll bar bushes to my mk1 - they seem to have a hard plastic insert which obviously wont push around the radius of the bar from one of the ends. I could cut a slit in them, but the inner plastic looks brittle and I don't think would stretch over the bar. Is there a trick that I'm missing. Cheers, as always, Steve
classicwhitey Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 what make are they? ive only come across ones that have a slit in them that you simply pull the bush open and clip it on to the bar.

classicwhitey Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 if your trying that then plenty of washing up liquid & water on the bar too
Chris standage Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 Don't mean to be cheeky or anything, but I'm trying to figure out what size anti roll bar bushes i need for my mk1, would anyone know what size for a 1.3 mk1 escort anti roll bar, rally designs catalogue says the small 19mm are for 1600 gt vehicles , so you've got the choice of 20, 22 or 24mm, from rough measurements it looks like 20mm but i don't want to buy the wrong bushes.
Lightweightsteve Posted July 19, 2014 Author Report Posted July 19, 2014 hi Chris, mine started life as a 1.3, and I don't think the roll bar has been changed. I measured the bar with a vernier at 20mm

Sometimes when they are moulded the slit doesn't form - possibly cheaper to mould this way?. Does it have a groove along the bottom, inside? If so, just run a blade up it.
