Ratters Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Hi guys & girls. I'm looking to fit rear seat back in the Mk1 this time round & as the kids will be in there want to fit rear belts. Does anyone have rear belts fitted & could they please post a handful of photos so I can see the fixing locations & how people have them fitted please? It's a '71 Mk1 so there aren't going to be plugged fixings there I wouldn't have thought. Thanking yous muchly
texr2000 Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 When i fitted some to mine i used the holes already there for the reals at the top then drilled 2 new holes for the other 2 points. kind of wish i didnt as can only think of a few occasions there was people in the back but was my daily 9 years ago when i was 17.
Ratters Posted July 23, 2014 Author Report Posted July 23, 2014 That is brilliant mate. Just what I was after Thank you!! I was previously using the car as a daily driver/work/shows etc before it came off the road about 4 years ago. I've since divorced & things are different & it's going to be a weekend car only so thought it would be nice to be able to take the kids out in it when I have them I presume you added strengthen plates to the shelf too?
BaileyMex Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 My Mex had rear lap belts fitted when I bought it ten years ago. I don't think they have ever been used since I have owned it, they are still there just pushed back down in-between the rear seats. From memory I think the middle mounting points were in a similar position to the above photo
texr2000 Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 I placed a 3 or 5mm thick steel square between the nut and the car at all 3 points to give more strength
