Mk 1 Mark Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Old Ford car. with old skool fool driving who is half irish Some people used to say im half jewish...But im saving up to be jewish!! Anyway..My car still english engined,Well ol good Voccy XE engine ... But it still has Jap management,German shafts,Japanese tyres, engine parts from around the world.. So Some will say Thats not right or allowed or dont like it But to me its still look cool..Goes well and thats all that counts for me...If it works ..then us it.. None of this show and shine malarkey..If Gas/Nos works for some people dont moan about it..use it yourself.. Oh but that engine should`nt be in that car?its not a ford.. Its works for me and love it!!! And anyone else can use what ever they want just as long as they enjoy it and have fun it it See you @ a trackday soon and you can tell me it dont work Yes, surely it's appearance of the car as a whole that makes it 'Old Skool', so a much-modified Cortina or Escort is, but a Vauxhall Calibra with RS2000 running gear isn't. "is that right Vern?" Some people
Morley Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 i think someone on this site should post a sticky on the proper definition of oldschool caus as of yet i havent found two people that agree on it the definitive answer has to be: Oldskool is exactly what you make of it. Horses for courses and all that caper. You could argue forever when you consider that: The YB aint as old skool as the Pinto The Pinto aint as old skool as the X-flow The X-flow aint as old skool as the pre-X-Flow The Pre-Xflow aint as old skool as the side valve... And so on... Drive em and love em...
60ftman Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 So we're agreed then. The quickest Old Skool Ford is......MINE!!!!!! Thank f*ck for that

But as for Fatty, does a fibreglass shell on a tube chassis that's never seen the inside of a Ford factory really count?

V8ian Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Stevieturbos granada must be one of the quickest, He drives it over from Northen Ireland and runs a 10.04 @ 148.42mph then drives it home. Last time I spoke he had run 188 over the mile and was still pulling, and thats without a cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://media.putfile.com/stevieturbo-10 ... Pod-Oct-06 Ian
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Terry Davis YB turbo mk2 escort is still the daddy on street tryes and without gas at 10.6 @ 134 mph !!!!!!!!!! ( 10,01 @145 mph with gas + slicks) Unbeliveable performance and i'd like to see someone get near that without a spaceframe , 8 cylinders and 2 foot wide rear tyres Andy Harris and Jason Elvy are the 4 cylinder N.A. engine boys at the top of the tree at present ( i've not counted any of the nos powerered cars as it's cheating ) and will be dueling with the duratecs this year ( if they turn up) . It's going to be brilliant at santa pod
Mr Sam Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Last time I spoke he had run 188 over the mile and was still pulling, and thats without a cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 200mph granny ? love the sound it makes
Mr Sam Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 but it,s only andy harris thats running a old skool engine yb,s, xe,s are not strictly old skool.......... are they ?????? My engine must be Old Skool - the block dates from the same year as the car - And it's a Ford!!! Check the home page Dedicated To British BuiltOld Skool Fords RWD Escort's, Capri's Anglia's, 100e and Cortina's Put's stirring spoon away ahh so im out being german built
jayson2.3pinto Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 to be the fastest old skool or fastest in old skool you have to run your car so people can see your times then it would be classed as the fastest its no good saying what your car has run proof is needed cars like kev mk2 , kev jenkins ,andys ,rons ,bob wiggins and a few others ran fast times all year with no problems and these people drive there cars all the time and thats what i would call the fastest and a few others i have not mentioned
60ftman Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 After a couple of years absence to rebuild the engine on the really restrictive budget I have I'll be at the drags this year trying to improve on our 9. I don't drive the car every day, I don't drive it to the track, I do rely on a V8 with power adders, a full-frame and 3 foot of rear rubber. It is still road legal and I do drive it on the road accasionally. I can also back-up every claim I make for the car, and as most of it has happened at public events with 100s of people looking on I don't think I need supply more proof. We (as a family) have also done just about all of the work to the car ourselves without resorting to chassis shops, engine builders, body shops etc., which has kept the total expenditure on the car down to less than 5 figures. I personally don't care if it's considered the quickest 'Old Skool Ford'. I could actually name quite a few that are quicker (though not members of OSF). I also think that a lot of the cars on here are every bit as good (if not better) than mine whether they are quick or not. I'd personally give my knackers for a bubbled 1600 Mk1 or another RS2 X-Pack. I just thought this train was a bit of fun. We've obviously stepped into different territory.
Guest MK1gaz Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 It is a bit of fun and i'm sure Jayson wasn't being horrible or doubting you mate . When you read these text messages it's VERY easy to take them in the wrong way so please don't feel like anyones being nasty because they're definately not .
V8ian Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Last time I spoke he had run 188 over the mile and was still pulling, and thats without a cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 200mph granny ? love the sound it makes Maybe a genuine 200mph car, especially as he is building a bigger engine this winter, No gas, No slicks, just a big tank of fuel and BFG drag Radials, But as it comes, drive it and go home again, But at the end of the day, its about enjoying yourself, if you run a 22 sec or a 9 sec run its still a buzz, Its nice not to be second, but, certainly for me, its beating the clock and just trying to get a few 10ths off my times and, of course, having a grin,
Posse Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 enjoying yourself end of thats what its all about
