stuartp Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 did no one else notice the letter having a go at OSF in the last Retro Ford mag? I can't see any mention of it on here new levels of complaining about not featuring later models in our club!
SmokeEm Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 I haven't read that mag for ages. What does it say?
Admin Vista Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 +1 on not reading RF, I used to but it was always so hard to find on the shelves that I gave up on it. TBH I wasn't overly impressed with the standard of the writing in it either. 1
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 I would be interested to see the article Stu .. can you upload a scanned copy of the letter? Quite why someone wrote to a mag about it seems strange though lol 1
dalmarshall Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 It's pretty simple really you join the club that's appropriate for your car.........you don't grizzle when you try to join the wrong club do ya !!! 2
Admin Vista Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 I wonder who it was Does it matter? Likely someone who's joined this forum, ignored both the Terms and Conditions on joining and the message on the home page and then thrown a paddy when they were pointed out to him. In fact, a bit like the misguided individual who joined up some months back and insisted on posting about his mk3 Escort all the time. Wanting it on club stands etc etc blah blah. 2

Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 I wish I had time to write complaints letters ... 2
mikehunt Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 theres always someone who takes the time to write in to magazines ,everyones opinion is different
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 17, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 17, 2014 I'm all for freedom of speech ... I'm just too busy to write complaint letters or write shit answers on forums lol 4
Benjy✌ Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 people need to open there eyes more and look at what osf caters for!!! it's clearly written on the home page!!
stuartp Posted December 18, 2014 Author Report Posted December 18, 2014 I don't have it with me but I'll scan it in when I get home tbh Retro Ford mag is no better or worse than it was before, it's just a bit different I buy it (and classic ford and retro cars and practical classics) every month and I'm surprised that no one else on here seems to 1
dalmarshall Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Not many places stock RF round my way and in any case I'd only buy it or CF if there was something that floats my boat in it. I stopped buying them regularly a couple of years ago when I found there were a lot of articles or features I just wasn't interested enough in to read them
mikehunt Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 I stopped buying cf its got far to many adverts in it
stuartp Posted December 18, 2014 Author Report Posted December 18, 2014 I'm quite loyal to classic ford - been buying it since it was ford heritage (and I was at school) retro ford not so much (although I did enjoy the morley meets a lot) and less so these days I can't imagine being into something and not buying the couple of magazines that are dedicated to it at least semi regularly 2
Benjy✌ Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 did no one else notice the letter having a go at OSF in the last Retro Ford mag? I can't see any mention of it on here new levels of complaining about not featuring later models in our club! Well that's a load of tosh! I'm 19 and own 2 Mk2 cortina's! I'm far from a middle aged posh guy! I saved for my first mk2 years before I could even drive and my other mk2 I now have aswell I worked dam hard for that, Saving almost every penny I earnt! But it paid off in the end! Regardless of what age you are, work hard for something and you'll get it! 3
SmokeEm Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 In some ways, he has a point. Its just a shame he vocalised it in the media rather than here. I think there are many on here that think that we do need to evolve but equally there are many that don't. The only part of his letter I dislike is saying that everyone who doesn't conform is shunned! That just is not the case. I have a Sierra based P100 and I am not shunned? I just understand that this particular site does not cater for it at the moment so I use another site also that does. Simple really 2
Admin Vista Posted December 19, 2014 Admin Report Posted December 19, 2014 Nobody is shunned on this forum, everybody is aware of what we're about and everyone who posts other content is politely pointed in the direction of the forum's operating mantra. As Smokem says above, unless there is a significant majority opinion of regular forum users (and not just new joiners who throw a paddy because they don't like what we are) that we should move on, we will stay the same. 4
luckyjim Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 I have a bit of street rodding background and it was the same situation there, some people (mostly 50's/ 60's old ford owners lol) couldn't get their head round the pre '49 cut off date.thus will ever be.
