alternator and starter motor for Pinto 2.1

Hi all 

Without spending too many £100ss of pounds i need to buy an alternator and starter motor for a 2.1 Pinto any recommendations?

 

and am i right in thinking i will need a high torque starter ?

and nothing less than a 55amp alternator?

Not necessarily on the high torque starter (depends on compression ratio and amount of ignition advance) and not essential on the 55 Amp......but certainly advisable

My standard starter won't turn my rebuilt 2.1 with the plugs in but spins it fine with them out. I bought a 1.4kw starter from andysautoparts in Oldham on ebay. Search for a high torque or uprated starter motor and you should find him, £79.95 posted. Someone else on here has bought one fairly recently too and whilst I haven't got round to fitting mine due to other commitments, he has said it does a great job of spinning his Pinto over. Hope this helps.
