Hi Everyone!

A newbie saying hello.

I have owned Escorts continuously since 1980 when I was 17 years old.

My daily driver is a factory standard 1979 Escort panel van purchased in April 1986.

Absolutely no intention of going backwards by buying something newer.

Looks like a great group here so you might see me from time to time.

Thanks,

PeterM.

Hi Peter

Welcome.

I am new here also and from Australia, although further north in QLD.

OSF seems like a great community.

Look forward to seeing your escort.

It's funny that the UK guys love the 4 door RS2000's and would probably pay more than a 2 door because they didn't get them. In Australia everyone still wants a 2 door.

You can find a nice 4 door RS2000 MK2 for around 10k here but a 2 door in the same condition would be at least 5k more.

I'm not sure that's true. Sure they're desirable as we didn't get them but rightly or wrongly many owners still favour two doors over anything.

Hi All,

The van is a July 1979 Australian build 1600 I purchased in April 1986.

It is my daily drive. Completely factory standard, although repainted but never restored.

The RS2000 was bought by me brand new as a teenager in May 1980. I rolled it and wrote it off on Boxing Day 1981. I completely rebuilt it over two years. Every panel was replaced except the passengers rear door and the boot lid. Still own it with genuine 40,000km. The photo was taken in June 1980.

The blue RS2000 is a December 1979 Australian build. Very rare factory installed slide back sunroof. Colour: Midnight. Currently I am accurately restoring it to Ford original concourse "as delivered to first owner by Ford". The photo was taken on December 21, 2012 "as I found it".

Thanks,

PeterM.
