Been to the rollers today with this..

Merc.jpg

Fitted with  a Cologne 2,6 V6 ( 9,46:1 cr ) Solex 35EEIT carb & Garrett T3-55

Made 187 bhp 4671 rpm / 236 lbft 3270 rpm at 6psi ( 0,4bar ) boost running on 95 fuel

Rolling road fella was complaining about the 11 AFR at WOT being to rich.... Car is running fine so I think the 11 AFR is perfect.

Didn't try higher boost levels cause the fella was trying to solve the AFR issue which in my ( what do I know) opinion isn't a big issue.

Limped back home after all he bodged, Modified the carb back to the original setting I came with and is running fine again.

Carb has a slight AFR ( lean ) dip round 2800rpm.

187 bhp will work for me. So I am happy.

I think 11 is OK for you, even though rich as you are running a turbo. Too lean with a turbo and your going to get knock.

There are 3 ways to help reduce the probability of knock at WOT on a turbocharged engine:

Reduce boost, adjust the AFR to richer mixture, and retard ignition timing.

The guy is probably used to working on turboed cars with electronic mapping which takes these parameters into consideration. On yours though with Carbs it seems you already have the balance set pretty good.
