Nice surprises

I was asked by a mate for a 3 litre essex, got a few so I said OK

He was planning to pick it up this week so last night I had a few hours free so I set about checking them to select one for him. I was had engines that I bought previously which allegedly were 3.1 litre , oh yes we've all bought these before every engine is a 3.1 or a 2.1 monster with meteoric acceleration! so I had a look

the engine turned out to be.... would you believe a 3.1 litre with huge inlet valves 45 millimetre and flowed heads and manifold the next engine turned out to be 3.1 litre 41 mm inlets with nice heads 41mm inlets and mild porting . eventually I got to the third engine and I took off the head and found a standard but good 3 litre there's no 3 guesses for which one I will be selling

I only checked as I had sold a pinto to a mate that WAS a 2.1

 

Anyone else found any such treasures?

We are building a mk2 and a mk3 capri 3 ltr.

 

Pls call me as interested in x members and panels ets.

 

These are race cars, so won't require anything mint.
