Gareth62 Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Janey, you where asking about DIY powder coating. My kit cost me around £130 from Frost, and I get good results from it. You just need an: Old oven (Cant be used for food ever again once used for Powder coating) Away to clean work piece ( Sandblaster ) or ( Good old elbow Grease followed with an acetone dip) Powder coat gun or kit My 12yr old lad had a go the other week for his schools art homework He learnedHow to cut out How to clean up and take off sharp edgesHow to spot weldHow to fold and bend thin sheet metalHow to punch holesHow to sand blastHow to powder coat, he was meant to do it red but the only colours I had was orange or black.Think he learned more in one night in there with me than a whole year in the school metal shop
ianb10 Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Excellent work there young man. Seems your Dad has all the right gear for you to play with, keep at it he may even let you loose on a project one day.
Gareth62 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Report Posted January 7, 2016 Yes, he can come and play with my toys. but my car no chance just yet
ianb10 Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 I did say 'A PROJECT' not your project. But as I say you can never start them too young 1
Danish Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 That's so cool, and as you say he's learned a lot more than he would in metalwork class.
Ray Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 thats excellent you should start your own night school recon that would be a winner, giving the kids something to do as well as teaching them skills of work
