  1. if your careful you can remove the old one and fit a new wire in and just gently re crimp it, then using a small blow gun heat it up and solder it, soldering old ones that you havnt removed the crimp is also good, as it gets rid of all the green mank within the wire and terminal and makes for a far better connection, ive done this loads of times, trick is not to over heat, soldering irons arent powerful enough though
  2. i really cant understand why in this day and age you leave a classic car un attended anywhere, its asking to be stolen, so much so in my area, that i darent take mine out

    NEC 2025

they relaxed the rules last year, up to then, the code had to be totally hidden from public view, as i understand the rules now, the code can be posted here or on osf FB page publicy, as long as long as the page/forum its posted on, is blatently old skool ford, so for example on here, its fine, providing you do not put any link or name to another site or company other than the NEC in your post, so you must not mention tretro ford or any OSF sponsors for example, but your not allowed to put it on your personal fb page, or someone elses page like retro ford or a sponsor absolutely crazy tbh, because that can be seen publicly, so what the hell difference it makes where you put it i dont really know, something to do with the commercial advertising i believe they could stop all the problems by just reducing the door price, but its all about tying you up to advertise the show in the name of giving the stand space for free And dont forget, if some of our sponsors are reading this, insurance company sponsors MUST NOT come onto the stand wearing your logo'd clothing and/or punt for business, or discuss business on the stand, that is now totally banned, to punt for or talk insurance business at this show, you must have and pay for your own stand and keep that to your stand only, your no longer permitted to go around the show advertising your company

    NEC 2025

unfortunately it is like flogging a dead horse, we go through this every year, we put our heart and souls into this show, to put on a good stand and keep the NEC organisers happy, and the club members just snub it, and as a result the show organisers then give us a hard time because we arent selling tickets, it can be soul destroying tbh, you think its an expensive day out ?, it averagely it costs me over £1200 a year of my own money to put on this show, which at first was fine, as its an enjoyable show to do, but as the total club dis interest goes on, it gives you second thoughts as to whether to bother next year
  11. guys and gals if your going to this show, please book online and use the old skool ford Discount code CCCNOV5846
  12. ok, asking as i cant quite find the answer thru google, 1974 classic car, in 2012 the car was put back on the road just to have its original number plate removed, this was its original no. plate, and as far as i can see, that plate then became a cherished number plate, and was put on a motorbike, and the car was given a cherished number plate (not a dvla issued plate), which is now on retention in 2013, the original 1974 plate was then taken from the bike and put on a 1995 mini sidewalk, which in 2014 was then SORN'd, and has been ever since the MOT history of the mini is not good, loads of rot lol, and i doubt would ever move under its own steam without a lot of money spent so my question is, can that, what was an original but now a cherished number plate, thats been on a SORN for 11 years, be taken off and put on retention, or does it have to stay with the car to either die with it, or wait till the car has an mot, which isnt going to happen any time soon
  13. my understanding is this, a car registered prior to 1st August 1975, is just subject to a visual emissions/smoke check, because theres generally no information for it, if its registered after 1st August 1975, it can be subject to a proper emissions/metered test as far as im aware, under the new regulations, if your car fails an mot, then you are NOT allowed to drive that vehicle on the road, you cannot use any remaining MOT up either, until its repaired and re MOT'd the MOT failure rule has been in some while now, and i had a class 4 van that failed on rot in about 2022, and i was not allowed to remove it from the forecourt without it being trailered, despite having a month left, it was the first time i had come across it this is perhaps why the tester is refusing to MOT your vehicle, as while you dont have an MOT or an MOT failure because youve registered for Historic vehicle class thats fine, but the minute your car fails an MOT, depending on how bad of course, that could throw it all out of the window hes probably trying to advise you in a round about way
